A religious order is a community of individuals in a faith tradition, typically within Christianity, who commit to a common spiritual purpose and lifestyle under specific vows, such as poverty, chastity, and obedience. Members dedicate their lives to prayer, service, and sometimes particular missions like education, healthcare, or charity. Religious orders are often guided by a founder’s rule, such as the Rule of St. Benedict for Benedictines, and they operate within broader Church structures.
